Boarding

Churchville Kennels supplies indoor boarding facilities to help take care of your pet while you are away. We have 5 separate kennel areas which contain indoor runs and cages. Each kennel is climate-controlled with heating and air conditioning, and all have music playing during the day to help everyone feel at home. The facilities and animals are protected by an elaborate burglar, heat, and smoke alarm system connected to a central monitoring center.

While here, your pet will be assured excellent quality care and lots of attention. We have an excellent group of kennel assistants who are very caring and loving towards all our special guests. As we have all indoor runs, we individually leash walk all our canine friends in a special fenced area outside. It is at this time, after they sniff around and do their "business", that they get their playtime and socialization supervised by our staff. Extra play and exercise time may be provided at a minimal additional fee. All of our guests receive lots of love and attention throughout each and every day!!

Churchville Kennels will provide each pet with fresh bedding every day. As bedding is washed daily, we ask that you do not bring bedding from home. This will prevent anything from getting lost, plus we do not want to risk bringing in any fleas! We feed Iams, Eukanuba, or Science Diet brand pet foods, as well as Prescription Diets for those with special needs. Fresh water is always available to all our guests!!! You may bring your own food from home as well. We encourage you to bring a couple of toys, chews, or treats as well. These items will have your scent on them, but some toys get destroyed, so bring something you do not mind losing, and bring SAFE toys and chews.

For our feline friends, we have a special separate room designed especially for cats. Although they do not go outside to play, we do have a window for them to look outside, and all kitties get playtime and petting sessions daily. Cats are also fed either Iams, Eukanuba, or Science Diet brand foods. Prescription diets are also available when needed.

In an effort to keep all of our visitors happy and healthy, we require that vaccinations be up-to-date. Dogs will need to have had a distemper/parvo combination shot, bordetella (kennel cough), rabies vaccine, heartworm check, and negative fecal. Cats must have received a distemper combination (calicivirus, panleukopenia, and rhinotracheitis), rabies, negative fecal, and either a leukemia vaccine or recent feline leukemia (FeLV) test. With the exception of the rabies vaccine, ALL the above procedures are yearly.

You can be assured that your pet will receive the best of care while staying with us. Our staff is trained to look out for anything that may be of concern regarding your pet. Our staff veterinarians will look at any pet that does not seem themselves-whether its truly sick or just homesick!! Those pets that require special attention while you are away may be boarded in our hospital ward. Here they will receive extra special care under direct supervision of one of the doctors to be sure that any special medications or concerns will be addressed. Talk with the receptionist to determine whether or not your pet should be hospitalized during their stay.

To set up a boarding appointment, just call our office and the receptionist will be happy to help you. Special programs are available for our frequent or long-term boarders. Keep in mind that during holidays and the summer months, many people have travel plans. Make arrangements early to have your pet stay with us, so that you can enjoy your time away without any worries!!

Bathing and Grooming

Churchville Veterinary Clinic also provides bathing, clipping, and grooming services by our experienced staff. Baths are given Monday through Friday. Routine baths are given for those pets who would rather be dirty and smelly!! We also provide special bathing and dips for those animals with special medical needs. Animals with fleas, ticks, skin mites, or other specific skin problems may require a medicated shampoo that can be administered carefully by our staff. Grooming services are made by appointment and are available Monday through Friday. You may provide our groomers with any special grooming instructions that you may have!! If you have any further questions regarding bathing or grooming services, please call our office at (410) 838-0085.

Medicine

Both Churchville and Greenbrier Veterinary Clinics offer a wide variety of medical services for your pet. The most important aspect of any health care plan is preventative health care. Preventative health care for animals is the same as a person going to their doctor for a routine physical exam. Routine exams are important for your pet as well to allow us to be sure that your pet is happy and healthy.

The doctors and staff of CVC and GVC strive to have the most recent advances in medicine available should your pet have a problem. We have the ability to perform most of our bloodwork within the hospital for blood chemistries, blood cell counts, electrolyte levels, heartworm tests, leukemia and FIV testing, as well as several other tests. Samples which cannot be processed are sent to a laboratory, with results usually received within 1-2 business days. Other diagnostic tests available include radiology (x-rays), flexible endoscopy, echocardiograms (ECGs), and ultrasound.

Patients which may need to be hospitalized have their own special hospitalization ward under direct supervision of a doctor and care technician. This gives them an area to rest and focus on getting better, while it allows our staff to keep a close eye on their progress. Fluid therapy pumps are available for those animals requiring intravenous fluids or medications. For those pets that may need even more specialized care, we do offer referral services for internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, dermatology, neurology, and cardiology. Your doctor will discuss these options with you on an individual basis.

Surgery

Both CVC and GVC offer soft tissue and orthopedic surgery services. Each clinic has a fully equipped surgical suite to ensure that your pet is well-cared for should surgery be necessary. For patients undergoing surgery, we have echocardiogram capability and pulse oximetry which allow us to evaluate your pet's heart and lungs while under anesthesia. Surgical procedures include but are not limited to spays and neuters, growth removals, oral surgery, minor eye and ear procedures, abdominal exploratories including gastrointestinal surgery, urogenital surgery (ie-kidney stones, bladder stones, tumors, etc.), as well as liver and splenic surgery. Orthopedic surgeries including fracture repair, cruciate ligament repair, hip surgeries, and dislocations are offered as well. For those procedures that may need a more specialized level of care, specialists are available that come to our clinic or referral to a veterinary surgical specialist. Your doctor will discuss these options with you as necessary.
